Serologic Evidence of Influenza A (H14) Virus Introduction into North America

چکیده
associated with a novel NADC30-like strain of PPRSV. Whole genomic analysis showed that the strain differed from previously identified PRRSV strains in China, but had an overall genetic similarity and a unique deletion in the NSP2-coding region that was identical to that of NADC30, which originated in the United States. We propose that the NADC30 strain was introduced into China in recent years by importing of breeding pigs and has since undergone mutations, resulting in variant viruses.

Evidence for the Circulation and Inter-Hemispheric Movement of the H14 Subtype Influenza A Virus
Three H14 influenza A virus (IAV) isolates recovered in 2010 during routine virus surveillance along the Mississippi Migratory Bird Flyway in Wisconsin, U.S.A. raised questions about the natural history of these rare viruses. These were the first H14 IAV isolates recovered in the Western Hemisphere and the only H14 IAV isolates recovered since the original four isolates in 1982 in Asia. Full le...

The accurate and timely characterization of influenza A viruses (IAV) from natural reservoirs is essential for responses to animal and public health threats. Differences between antigenic and genetic subtyping results for 161 IAV isolates recovered from migratory birds in the central United States during 2010-2011 delayed the recognition of four isolates of interest. Genomic sequencing identifi...
متن کاملEvidence of Intercontinental Spread and Uncommon Variants of Low-Pathogenicity Avian Influenza Viruses in Ducks Overwintering in Guatemala
Over a hundred species of aquatic birds overwinter in Central America's wetlands, providing opportunities for the transmission of influenza A viruses (IAVs). To date, limited IAV surveillance in Central America hinders our understanding of the evolution and ecology of IAVs in migratory hosts within the Western Hemisphere. To address this gap, we sequenced the genomes of 68 virus isolates obtain...
متن کاملGenomic Characterization of H14 Subtype Influenza A Viruses in New World Waterfowl and Experimental Infectivity in Mallards (Anas platyrhynchos)
Recent repeated isolation of H14 hemagglutinin subtype influenza A viruses (IAVs) in the New World waterfowl provides evidence to suggest that host and/or geographic ranges for viruses of this subtype may be expanding. In this study, we used genomic analyses to gain inference on the origin and evolution of H14 viruses in New World waterfowl and conducted an experimental challenge study in malla...
متن کاملInfluenza in Migratory Birds and Evidence of Limited Intercontinental Virus Exchange
Migratory waterfowl of the world are the natural reservoirs of influenza viruses of all known subtypes. However, it is unknown whether these waterfowl perpetuate highly pathogenic (HP) H5 and H7 avian influenza viruses. Here we report influenza virus surveillance from 2001 to 2006 in wild ducks in Alberta, Canada, and in shorebirds and gulls at Delaware Bay (New Jersey), United States, and exam...
